We are going global!

In 2014 I started the Dutch pull tab typology and this blog.
Partially it was a joke, a teaser for colleagues who frowned at Dutch archaeology following the international trend to regard recent times more an more as part of the discourse. But as most jokes, it had a serious undertone: EVERYBODY knows pull tabs. They are just as much an global subconsious icon of modernity as is the old bakelite telephone. even though nobody under 40 yrs of age has owned or actually used one, we all recognise it instantly. Pull tabs can literally (AND litterally) be found everywhere and are a symbol of how late modernity reached out to every corner of the planet with both its great opportunities and its great downsides.

The Dutch typology and this blog have outgrown its purpose. Now we go global and this website will no longer be updated.Make sure to join our global community if pull tabs make you smile.
